About Bathroom Renovation Moorabbin
We renovate bathrooms, ensuites and laundries in Moorabbin and nearby Melbourne suburbs. People notice the tile, the glass and the vanity. But how long a bathroom lasts depends on what sits underneath: the strip-out, the pipes, the membrane and the bed the tiles are laid in. We build every job in that order, one layer at a time.

THE BUSINESS
One business for the whole wet area
We focus on bathroom renovations and the rooms that use the same trades. One job might be a full bathroom taken back to the frame. Another might be a compact main bathroom where every centimetre has to be planned, an ensuite off the main bedroom, or a single shower that has started to leak. The size changes, but the approach doesn’t. We work out what’s behind the wall and under the floor before anyone chooses what goes on top.
That’s why design comes early in our process. It’s also why we talk about falls, wastes and membranes as readily as tiles and tapware. Once you understand how the room is built, it’s easier to decide how it should look, and the result holds up to daily use.

Workmanship
Good workmanship mostly lives in the parts nobody photographs. Wall linings are square and solid, and floors are screeded to fall towards the waste. Membranes are turned up the walls and lapped at the corners, and tiles are set level on a full bed of adhesive. Get those right and the finished surfaces sit flat, the grout lines run true and the water goes where it should.

Renovation approach
We plan before anything comes out. The consultation and assessment look at the room as it is now. Bathroom Design settles the layout and materials, and the quote is based on those decisions. Materials are chosen before demolition, so you make your selections while the old bathroom still works.

Project coordination
A bathroom brings demolition, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling and fit-off into one small space, and each trade relies on the one before it. We schedule the work so each layer is finished and checked before the next one covers it. That keeps the job moving in the right order, and you always know which stage the room is at.

THE LAYERS
Three layers decide how a bathroom ages
Waterproofing
In a wet area, nothing matters more than the membrane. It goes on after the plumbing and before the tiles. It covers the prepared floor and runs up the walls around the shower, the bath and the floor waste. Tiling
Tiling is where the layout meets the substrate. We plan the tile format, set-out and grout width so cuts fall at the edges of a wall, not in the middle. Floor tiles follow the falls down to the waste. See Bathroom Tiling and Bathroom Tile Ideas.
Quality finishing
Tapware, screens, the vanity, silicone joints and the final clean make up the last layer. You touch these every day, so they’re fitted to the wall framing and services prepared earlier in the job. See Vanity Installation and Shower Renovations.
PROCESS
Twelve steps, in the same order every time
Whether it’s a full bathroom, an ensuite or a laundry, the job follows the same sequence. Planning comes before building, and nothing gets covered until the layer beneath it is done.
